My little brother graduated! Weird! Some days I feel like I just barely did this! It was fun to have a bunch of the family come down and play for a couple days, though I must say 700-somethin' names is a LOT to sit through... I swear it went so much faster when I was graduating. :) We're super proud of him. He'll be headed to Utah State in the Fall to study engineering. He's been my best buddy for the past 18 years and I can't believe he's going to college!
At the end of June, Craig and I got to participate in a Book of Mormon youth conference with our stake. We were tribal parents and had an absolute blast! It was amazing to watch the Book of Mormon come alive in these kids' eyes. We had several "visitors" (members of the stake committee dressed up as Book of Mormon prophets) come and talk to the kids. The list includes, Lehi, Nephi, Captain Moroni, Helaman, King Benjamin, Enos, and Moroni who finished the record. We participated in several team-building and faith-building activities and really came to know and love these kids. On the very last day, we were woken up in the middle of the night by "timultuous noise"... seriously though, it was a soundtrack of buildings crumbling, people screaming, thunder, etc played over booming speakers all around the camp. We, the leaders, even knew it was coming and it was STILL creepy! We gathered our little family together and headed toward the temple that was built and lit-up on the hill. After watching the scenes from The Testiments with all the destruction and then the Savior's appearance, we had a testimony meeting. These kids are amazing! Though the event was geared toward helping these teens to feel the spirit and strengthen their testimonies, I feel like my testimony of the Book of Mormon and the Savior Jesus Christ were strengthened just as much, if not more, than the testimonies of the kids.
We named our tribe the "Azulites" because we were assigned the color blue and "blue-ites" just sounded silly. :) From L-R; Fabio, Tyler, Cedric, Jeong-Mi, Yon-Soo, Craig, Me. Each family go to make their own Title of Liberty after we were "visited" by Captain Moroni. We wrote down what we stand for and the things that we value most that we would protect. I love these kids!
Craig has just recently been called as the Stake Executive Secretary... yeah. We were wow-ed by it too. Needless to say, he's been a very busy man. He is the stake president's "Day Planner." He takes the notes and makes the agendas for all the meetings, schedules the stake president's meetings, takes calls from TONS of people who need to meet with the stake president... Basically it's his job to make sure the stake president gets home to his wife and kids at night. :) He has really taken this challenging calling in stride and I'm very proud of him. I'm still getting used to only having him with me in sacrament meeting every few weeks... When we move to a different ward in the stake in August, they'll probably think I'm a widow... or my husband's inactive. :)
I'm still in nursery and am working with the bishop and primary president to split it. We currently have 20 kids and will have 26 by the end of July. Aaaah! With Craig gone, we only have 2 leaders in there, so we usually end up begging for help from passers-by or parents. We're surviving though, and I still love those little ones. 2 year-old Toby asked me on Sunday if I was a princess. :) Why, yes Toby. Yes I am... At least my Daddy and husband tell me so. :)
