What a day this has been. What a rare mood I'm in...

After a long hard week of school and tests, we had a great weekend!  We watched a movie and snuggled on Friday, played ultimate frisbee at a stake activity on Saturday (Our team won.  Woot!) and on Sunday my sweet hubby humored me and we carved pumpkins.  It's certainly not one of his favorite things to do.  After some pouty lips, puppy-dog eyes, and a few "But it's Halloween!"s from me, he caved and joined me in making a squishy mess. :)  I was pretty proud of my pumpkin!  Craig named her Cynthia... He wasn't too fond of his own pumpkin, so he ended up donating it to his brother, Eric, to make "pumpkin leather."  Apparently it's kind of like a fruit roll-up/jerky.  You mix pureed pumpkin with ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, and some other stuff, roll it out flat and let it dry. I guess we'll have to try some sometime. :)  Cynthia guards the doorway for now, but she'll probably meet the same fate in a week's time.  I'll probably smash her up and freeze her to make pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving with Craig's family.  I'll let you know how the pie adventure goes.

In other news....I'm going to Tonga!
For my Global Health and Human Diversity class next spring, we have the option of doing a study abroad.  I applied to go to Tonga and got accepted!  We'll be gone for the month of May and no, Craig isn't allowed to come with me. :(  As much as I'll miss him, this is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.  I didn't get to serve a mission before getting married, so this will be my own little "mini-mission."  :)  We're representing BYU and the Church, so I think it counts.  We'll be working in a tiny 30-bed hospital on the island of Vavau for the majority of the time, but we'll get to spend a few days on the main island, Tongatapu, and visit the temple.  I'm so excited!  It still hasn't completely sunk in.... Aaah!  I'm so excited!  Craig keeps teasing me that he's going to shave his head and grow a mustache (things I would never let him do if I was home) but we'll see what actually happens. :)

Life is good!

  1. I didn't get to carve a pumpkin this year, I was so sad! I'm glad you convinced Craig to do that with you, it's definitely one of the best parts of Halloween!
